I’m Jenny Hadfield, best- selling author and columnist with RunnersWorld.com and Women’s Running Magazine and lover of all things running. I started my running journey unable to make it to the end of my block without crying. With the help of a few great friends I ran my first 5K and crossing that finish line changed my life forever. This site is dedicated to mortal runners looking for guidance to get started on their journey and every day runners who need support to improve their performance. Join in the conversation to ask a question, learn from others and get inspired to run with your own style. We can all do it together, one step at a time.
Happy trails. Jenny
I just completed My first half marathon at the ING Miami Half Marathon in 2:31 minutes!!!!!!!!!!! ~February 2, 2012
I have only been running (jogging) for a couple of months and I have been reading, learning and jogging. This past Saturday the 28th I ran my first 5K in 39 minutes and 44 seconds at the Daytona International Speedway. The next day I ran 4.33 miles on the treadmill. I am now setting my sights on the Daytona 1/2 marathon in October. With your advice I know I can do it. Thanks again! ~February 1, 2012
Thanks Coach Jenny! I went to both of your talks at the Inaugural Tinker Bell Half Marathon Expo and it paid off! During the race, I remembered your advice about having a mental plan, running efficiently and pacing myself. Pacing has been a work- in-progress for me but I did much better this race than I have in the past. Not only did I have negative splits, I also got a PR – 5 minutes off my previous best time in the half! I’d love to have you talk to me before all my future races. It helps get me focused on my race strategy. Thanks again! ~January 30, 2012
Coach Jenny – I just want to say “Thank you” for your inspiration. About 18 months ago, I was inspired to start training to raise money for the Christopher Reeve Foundation but I’d never run and was over-weight. The very first book I put my hands on was Marathoning for Mortals – and it quickly [...] Read More
Coach Jenny – I’m glad to report that my First marathon went super well! The weather was not hot after all. In fact, it was a mix of clouds and sun and all runners enjoyed a fabulous 16°C the whole race. It was truly an amazing first experience for me. My goal was to soak [...] Read More
I gotta tell you and John how much I love Running For Mortals. It’s got me really excited to go from walker to runner (it should be required reading in PE at high schools). Thanks! ~ Dean Read More
